In her piece For a While, a 20 x 20-inch acrylic on canvas painting, Karren Lopez’ attempted to create a visual representation of that tranquil middle ground between the real and fabricated stories we tell ourselves; and the realities that we face. This serene middle ground’s energy is rendered on canvas using shades of pastel pink and blue. To create an illusion of depth to her piece, Karren proceeded to delicately splatter thin paint marks of darker paints. The overall technique made For a While her most dream-like piece yet.
